Skippi Ice Pops

Skippi Ice Pops is a new player in the frozen dessert market but has already created quite a buzz. The brand’s unique selling point is that its popsicles are not only delicious but also healthy. The founders, Ravi and Anuja, both have extensive experience in the FMCG industry, and they saw an opportunity to introduce a trustworthy brand of ice popsicles without artificial flavors.

The duo conducted rigorous research and found that parents wanted a brand they could trust, as ice popsicles are typically classified as treats. As parents themselves, they decided to launch Skippi in March 2020. The manufacturing unit was set up, and six flavors were introduced, all made using only natural colors, preservatives, and sweeteners extracted from fruits and vegetables.

To address the challenge of refrigeration and cold storage, Skippi developed a popsicle in liquid form that can be sold at room temperature. After purchase, the popsicles only need to be kept in the freezer for about eight hours, which saves on cold storage costs. This also allows the product to be sold in rural and remote areas where a regular supply of electricity is a problem.

The couple invested Rs fifty-five lacks in starting the manufacturing and distribution, but their plans were derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The manufacturing unit was closed for a year, but they were confident that the market opportunities would open up once the lockdown was lifted.

Their patience paid off when they were finally able to launch Skippi in early 2021. The first batch sold out within three weeks, and the couple targeted both traditional markets and e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart.

Skippi’s success can be attributed to the founders’ focus on delivering a high-quality product with natural ingredients and their innovative approach to addressing the challenges of refrigeration and cold storage. Moving forward, Skippi plans to introduce more flavors and expand its distribution network. The brand has already established itself as a trustworthy and healthy option in the frozen dessert market, and it is poised for growth in the coming years.
